Please help the Capitol Hill neighborhood group fighting to play roller hockey at the Anacostia Skating Pavillion. These DC parents and children have unsuccessfully petitioned the National Capitol Parks-East for permission to play roller hockey at times when the pavillion is not otherwise used. For months they did so without incident. But this summer the Park Service banned them from the Pavillion on the spurious grounds that their skates would damage the concrete. On September 27, 1995, David McDonough wrote to Gentry Davis, Superintendent, National Capitol Parks-East asking permission to return to the Pavillion. Gentry has denied the request citing fear of damage and torts. Please ask the Part Service to reconsider their stand. Help the parents and children of Capitol Hill pursue a wholesome family activity.
