As of 1999, this site is coming to you from my basement courtesy of the GNU open software project and SDSL. We are running on the Apache Web Server on Linux using a beater Pentium 133 box with 32 megs of RAM. The Linux box is handling the Web chores and serving as a gateway/firewall for a couple of other PCs.

I created this page several years ago purely for fun, so don't expect content. Every couple of years I try something new that catches my attention. In early 1995 it was the animated windsurfer (one of the early animated GIFS on the net). In late 96 it was the onmouseover light up bars over there to the left. I haven't done much since then until the move to my basement in April 99. Now thanks to the availablilty of lots of free open souce tools I may be able to try some data base interaction using MySQL and Zope or Midgard - if I can just think of something to serve up.

In the meantime poke around a little and see if any of my interests are your interests.

WHOA!!

Hold on a second. Please don't leave without visiting the CHILL Homepage where you can help kids convince the National Park Service to let them play roller hockey in theAnacostia Park Pavillion.

What a second more - You should check out our first digital astro photographs taken with Jenn's homemade telescope.

Here are some photos from a trip to the Kennedy Space Center to see the Endeavor Shuttle launch. The launch was scrubbed, but it was fun seeing a few days in the life of Ed Heffernan.

Check out a few pictures from our trip to Ireland in August of 1999.  See the house Mary Leahy was born in and the church Jim Heffernan was baptised in.

Family members and friends contemplating a trip out east should check out the Church Point photo gallery. See what fun you can have if you venture on out here. You can also catch a few photos from Eileen's wedding.

Obsession

windsurfingWindsurfing
This is definitely an addictive sport. You should really check it out.  (And no, women don't have to be particularly strong to windsurf - so get out there and get hooked.)

Interests

Snowboarding Online  - info on snowboarding, the sport of choice for ice bound windsurfers.
Wakeboarding   - Str8lines's take on a summer sport for becalmed windsurfers.
Waterskiing   - another sport for becalmed windsurfers.
Skiing (alpine)   - snowboarding is fun, but most of us old farts still like to get in a little of the traditional standby.
Scuba Diving  - Scuba Central links you to every diving site you could want. Try Bonaire  for diving and windsurfing.
Inline Skating  - great all weather sport for kids of all ages.
Photography  - Head into the darkroom on a dreary rainy day and enter a whole new world.
Books  - you've got to read about all this stuff.
Computers  - This just takes you back here since that's where my computer takes me.

If you've gotten this far and haven't visited CHILL,  then shame on you. Go there now and help us lobby Congress.
